50th Birthday Blog Hop Day Three

Welcome to day three of the 50th Birthday Luau Blog Hop!  Happy birthday Barbara! If you are here from Gina at http://californiascrappin-gcinderella21.blogspot.com/  then you are in the right place! For the past two days, an attendant has showered you with birthday greetings.  Today, he returns and brings you...

For this card, I used Close to my Heart papers, Liquid Glass, and Color-Ready Cork Alphabets.  I also used the Potpourri Basket Cricut cartridge for my palm tree.

Aloha can mean hello or good-bye.  Sadly, we say good-bye to another fun blog hop but hello to new friends and memories.  Thank you for sharing my tropical dreams!  If you would like a bonus, please comment below for your chance at some blog candy.  A winner will be chosen on September 1st.  You must come back here to claim your prize!  You can have a second chance at winning if you become a follower of this blog.  If you'd like to become a Facebook fan of Curls & Grins, you can click here

Oh Baby! Blog Hop

I have to start with a shout out to one of my babies -
Little Bear - who turns 8 today!

Now on to my project for today:

This is a page from a baby book that I created for a friend.  She wanted a baby book that didn't look so babyish.  To create this book, I used the Fanfare papers from Close to my Heart and miscellaneous embellishments.  My favorite part of this page is the pull out journaling square.  Many scrapbookers are hesitant to journal because they don't like their handwriting, but our words give so much more to our layouts.  This pull out is the perfect solution!  Write your note so that it isn't a part of the layout but someone can still know the story of the page.  I created similar pages for the daddy and big sister.

Now on to my project for today:
This was a draft of the adoption announcement I created for a friend who recently adopted one of the cutest little boys! To create this card, I used the Animal Cookies papers from Close to my Heart. The animals were individually cut from the paper, a time-consuming but worthwhile project. While I LOVE embellishments, I made these cards flat to keep the postage costs down.
