Isn't It Called SCRAPbooking?

Several years ago I was teaching a card class and something terrible happened in the middle of the class.  I realized that I had given one of the participants a piece of paper that had a logo on it.  So many thoughts went through my head as I scrambled to get her another piece of useable paper.  Would she think I didn't know what I was doing?  Would she be upset with me?  Would she ever come to another class?

None of those things happened.  When I apologetically handed her the new paper, she asked me why I wouldn't want her to use what was already in her kit.  I told her that I wouldn't want her to have to use the piece with the logo on it (duh).  "Isn't this a scrapbooking class?" she asked.  "This looks like a scrap to me and I don't see anything wrong with it," she stated matter-of-factly as she incorporated it into her card, strategically hiding the logo.

Obviously this experience has stuck with me.  She did come back and is one of my favorite people to share this creative journey.  She has inspired my crafty goal this year.  I will be using or sharing all of my scraps and put the SCRAP back into scrapbooking (and all things crafty).  This will help me to focus (my word for the year) because it will cut down on my craft clutter that distracts me.

What do you do with your scraps?
