What Are You Crafting Today?

I'm in a rut today.  We had a fabulous family weekend that ended early this morning when my husband got called in to work.  Today begins a VERY BUSY week full of doctor and dentist appointments, sporting practices and events, church activities, Valentine's card-making, and a crop night.  Help me out by sharing your projects for the week.  Of course, I know you will be using Close to my Heart papers, inks, stamps, and tools for your projects (wink, wink). Someone who shares here and on my Facebook page will get a little something from my Close to my Heart supply to help you out in your project.

Christmas Cards

I'm finally getting around to making Christmas cards after a very hectic move.  Who would have thought that a 45 mile move would be more chaotic than a move across the country?  My scrapbooking supplies are unpacked (who cares about the kithen supplies?) and I am busy making Christmas cards!  I will post more pics this weekend, but here is a sneak peek at one of my cards for my workshop this weekend.  It features my favorite Close to my Heart product at the moment, the Mistletoe papers.  I especially LOVE the New England Ivy music paper.  You can purchase the papers, embellishments, and inks at Close to my Heart.

Hooligans Workshop

This week we are taking a break from card-making and working on a 2 page layout using the fun Hooligans paper and Workshop on the Go from Close to my Heart.  This paper is adorned with monsters, but it works for so much more than just Halloween!

You can purchase the materials for this project at rejoice.myctmh.com.

Two Weeks of Scrapbooking

The scrapbooking room isa happy place for the girls and I and this is a happy season! We have spent a lot of time in the scrapbooking room this week and the coming week will have us there even more. Last week we made 20 cards which we gave to a friend as wedding gift. Then on Friday we prepped materials for 120 cards for a church event. With the help of several ladies at church, we finished the cards on Saturday so a team could deliver them on Sunday to local firefighters and law enforcement as thanks for their service to our community. With that behind us, we are looking forward to our upcoming projects. This week we will be making 12 seed packets for our swap. Then we will be making sample projects for my Scrap Birthday Party and prepping materials for the attendees. Pictures will be coming soon...

Close to my Heart Spring Product Preview

This Saturday I will be hosting my Spring Product Preview for Close to my Heart.  We will be creating a 10-minute project using new papers, stamps and embellishments.  You will also be able to sample projects using the new products.  Take home a new idea book and some extra little goodies.  Bring a friend so she can get some goodies too!

Now I understand that many of you are not in my neighborhood but want in on some of the deals.  Check out my Close to my Heart website for some great offers, such as the Felicity kit and the stamp of the month.

In light of the recent earthquake in Haiti, a portion of every order this weekend will be donated to relief efforts.

Scrap Friday or Black Friday?

What are your plans this Friday?  My family has never been big into the whole Black Friday thing.  In the past, we would go to a cabin in the mountains Thanksgiving weekend.  On Black Friday we would eat a leisurely breakfast and then head to the local KMart for whatever sales they offered.    This year, I will be at home and my husband will have to work.  Since Wal*Mart, Target, and Kohl's are on his way to work, we have a crazy plan.  We will both drive to Wal*Mart (they have the most on sale that we want) and shop there when they open.  Then he will go to work and I will head to Kohl's and possibly Target to finish my shopping.  Then I will head home to spend the rest of the day scrapbooking with my girls.  They always want to scrapbook with my but I am usually prepping something for a Close to my Heart party and either can't pay attention to helping them or don't want them in the middle of my project.  I will also make all of my Christmas cards so I can get them in the mail early.  I think this is a perfect compromise for my budget and my family.

Priorities in Unpacking

My daughters and I recently moved halfway across the country in search of a simpler life. While my husband finishes his tour in Iraq, I am left to sort and unpack thousands (OK, maybe a few less than that) boxes of stuff. We started out very organized when unloading the truck, putting boxes in appropriate areas and stacking them so the list of contents could be seen. As I began unpacking however, boxes were moved and shuffled around to get to other boxes. My goal is to create a home or something close to it for my husband to come back to next week. So what are my priorities? The beds are assembled and welcome anyone to climb up for a nap. The TV, satellite box, and DVD player are hooked up. All of our clothes are unpacked and put away. Because our temporary home is my mom's basement, all of the kitchen boxes are set aside for now. My scrapbooking things are out so I can send lots of thank you cards to my friends who helped us accomplish this undertaking. Next up, school books and supplies so we can be ready for school to start in a couple of weeks. Yippee!
