World Cardmaking Day with Operation Write Home

Welcome to Curls & Grins Creations!  To read more about us and our projects, please scroll down to our previous post.  Without further delay, here is our contribution...

This card is created using Close to my Heart products: Roxie papers, Remarkable Wreath stamp set, Holiday Trinkets stamp set, Kraft borders, Cranberry grosgrain ribbon, and Desert Sand ink for the edging.  The wreath is stamped in Chocolate ink and the berries are done with Cranberry embossing.  The sentiment is done with gold embossing.
Thank you for visiting our little world!  We would love for you to become a blog follower and a Facebook fan so we can stay in touch!

Celebrate Memorial Day With Operation Write Home

Sometimes we want to help but we just don't know how.  Operation Write Home is an amazing organization that sends handmade cards to our troops overseas so they can send their families beautiful cards.  You can read more about them at www.operationwritehome.org.  There are several ways you can help.
  1. You can send cards to them (make sure to check out the requirements before sending your cards).
  2. You can send a monetary donation.
  3. You can shop at my Etsy shop.  For every card you purchase, I will donate 2 cards to Operation Write Home.
Also, this weekend it Operation Write Home's annual Memorial Day Blog Hop.  It starts at http://www.owhstarsandstamps.org/.  Make sure to stop by and say hello!

My New Year's Resolutions

I have some pretty typical New Year's resolutions this year like eating healthier, exercising more, and reading through my Bible this year, but one goal for the coming year is a little less typical.  I plan to create and send out three handmade cards each week.  I have plenty of people in my life to whom I can send a birthday, anniversary, get well or thinking of you card.  On the weeks when I can't think of three people who need a card, I will create a couple of extra cards to send to Operation Write Home.  I expect my scrapping buddies to hold me accountable to my goal and that is why I will be hosting Friday Night Scrappers each month.  Some of our group will be working on completing a 2-page layout each week and others will be working on 3 cards per week, but we will all be working together and encouraging each other.  If you want to be a part of our challenge, read here for more details.  Even if you don't live in the Kansas City area, you can join in our challenge on the Always Joyful Scrapbooking & Cardmaking Facebook page.  There you can join in the discussion and post your pics of completed projects.
