My inspiration for this card came from my Close to my Heart Moon Doggie papers. These tropical papers are from a couple of summers ago and I still LOVE them. To give the trunk of my palm tree a little texture, I dry embossed it and then sanded it. It now has a fuzzy feeling. The picture isn't so great, but the embossed sentiment on the basket is "Life's a Picnic."
To create this card, I used the Moon Doggie papers as I already said. I also used the Campin' Fever stamp set from Close to my Heart, the Potpourri Basket cartridge for my Cricut to create my fun palm tree and some rick rack from my stash.

And now, for my post...
My Saturday didn't go exactly as planned. After my morning yard sale, I was going to make a few layouts and a beautiful card to share for Mother's Day. I didn't expect what I would find in a box of books as I was cleaning out my garage. I came across a book I had purchased for my grandma last spring, planning to give it to her for Mother's Day. Shortly after that purchase, she succombed to a short battle with cancer and I was never able to give it to her. When I read through the book entitled, "What If There Were No Grandmothers?" I thought about my girls who would remember very little of my grandma who raised me. I then wondered to whom I would give the book. It wasn't exactly something my mom would relate to. I then thought of my pastor's wife. She was also raised by her grandmother and, seeing her interact with her grandkids, I knew she was the type of grandmother this book was written for. Many of us will celebrate our mothers on Mother's Day, but many of us will celebrate other special ladies. This is for one of those other special ladies, our pastor's wife.
This card is made with the Magnifique Papers and Blessed Stamp Set from Close to my Heart.
Your next stop is Carol C at http://cardstockscissorsandglue.blogspot.com/.
Thank you for taking the time to HOP with us. It has been our pleasure to present projects specifically made for this hop. Please take the time to leave comments on all the blogs during this HOP. Your ideas and suggestions help improve our blogs, web sites, Facebook pages & future hops. Thank You!
